Brian has been passionate about finance and investing for decades. When his father passed away at a young age, Brian experienced firsthand the benefits of disciplined planning and careful investing. He quickly learned that his good fortune was fairly uncommon.
Brian graduated from Cornell College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics in 1990. Building on a life long interest in economics and finance, Brian completed Boston University’s Financial Planning Certificate Program in 2008 in preparation for a second career helping others with their finances.

Prior to launching SFP, Brian spent over 15 years managing a pair of Chicago-based boutique consulting firms that offered technology planning services to a global client base. He honed his communication and analytical skills on dozens of strategic planning projects.
In his early years after college, Brian spent time hiking the Northern Rockies while working and living in Yellowstone National Park, cooked at the summer home of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, and dabbled in philosophy studies at the University of Chicago’s Graham School.
